My P.E. class is different than most students. I have aquatics P.E. since I am in water polo. Also, there is more people in my class than any other class. There are 25 boys and 25 girls. We are all in water polo, and we will all be on the swim team. Coach Dyer is the teacher and girls' coach; Dorman is the boys' coach. The goalie coach is Coach Catherine; and she is a senior and Edison. Also, she is on the varsity water polo team at Edison. Another senior that helps coach the varsity boys and works with the sets, which are Hailey, Adam, Liza, Niko, Robbie, and I, is Annissa. We swim every day for P.E. unless there is lightning, or unless the heater breaks and it is really cold. Otherwise, we swim no matter what. As you can see, my P.E. class is very different from the normal P.E class.
The Four Strokes |
To the left is picture of Michael Phelps competing in the olympics. The stroke he is doing right now is butterfly. This is one of the four strokes in swimming. The four strokes are: butterfly, back-stroke, breast-stroke, and freestyle.
In butterfly, you use the "dolphin kick" while in breast-stroke you use the "froggy kick". However, in freestyle and back-stroke, you use "flutter kick". These are the only three types of kicks you use while swimming. My favorite strokes to do are breast-stroke and freestyle. These are my favorite because they are simple strokes, but they are fun in the same way. If you want to swim, however, you will need to have experience or you will not do well. The reason you will not do well is because it takes hard work, practice, and the ability to learn in order to be a successful swimmer. All in all, swimming may seem simple, but it is very difficult. |
Offensive Set Up

To the left is a diagram of how you set up on offense. The positions on offense are Hole Set, Point Guard, Wing, and Flat. As you can see, there are two Wings and Flats. The Wings line up on the 2-meter line (red) while the Flats line up on the 5-meter (yellow). This is how you would set up on offense.
Now on defense, you basically just mirror this diagram. Let me explain that to you. So, the two flats and wings would stay with their man. However, the set guards the other team's guard and the guard guards the other team's set. This is how you would set up defense.
